A one day classroom based course including exam assessment. Candidates who enrole on this course are sent a VHF handbook ahead of the course and required to undertake a minimum of 3 hours of pre-reading before attending the course.
Classroom based tuition 0830 - 1600 followed by exams 1600-1900 (finish time is dependant on student numbers)
This course is designed for those candidates who prefer to undertake classroom based study using practical training radios and VHF simulator. Students will have ample opportunity to practice all of the practical elements using our suite of training radios. The exam is then taken and administered by a seperate VHF examiner over a 2 hour period. When booking this course, through our on-line system, your are automatically enroled for the exam.
Classroom based VHF SRC course - £99 plus exam fee £60
Use this option if you have already completed your online training and would like to book an exam date with us using our on-line booking system. There is an administrative fee of £30 if you have completed your course with another training centre.
This new SRC course will comply with CEPT regulations. Exams fees are paid directly to the examiner on the day of the assessment.

The candidate then completes a self study on-line course which culminates in the issue of an exam completion certificate. The practical exam is then undertaken at the training centre over a 2 hour period. This course is designed for candidates who prefer to learn on-line in their own time but does not include any practical instruction from an instructor. The Short Range Certificate is the qualification required by law if you operate a VHF radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) on any British vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment using International channels
To comply with regulations there is a minimum requirement of learning hours to be completed before you can take an assessment.
Please note: Any person who currently holds a non GMDSS UK Marine VHF/SRC licence or a UK VHF aviation licence may go straight to the assessment without having to complete the course. We offer a number of course options as follows:
