If you are looking to undertake more adventurous powerboat trips by day and night then the RYA Advanced Powerboat Course is for you. This 2 day course includes navigation at planing speed by day and night, weather and other aspects of skippering powerboats on more challenging passages in coastal waters. Anybody undertaking this course must have the practical skills of the Intermediate course and knowledge of navigation to a minimum of the standard of the Day Skipper shorebased course ideally you will already have completed the RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachmaster Theory course.
We have several RYA Advanced Powerboat course dates over the coming months covering Preparation for sea, boat handling, passage making and responsibility as skipper, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, use of engines, emergency situations, night cruising. We operate in the categorised waters of the Bristol Channel offering challenging tides and navigation exercises coupled with a busy shipping channel! If you are looking to work commercially to more than 3 miles from your nominated port of departure then this course is a stepping stone to the Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Competence Exam.
