First Aid at Work (FAW) Course

First Aid at Work (FAW) is a comprehensive training course that is designed to provide first aiders with the knowledge and skills they need to respond effectively to emergency situations in the workplace.

The training covers a range of essential first aid skills that are suitable for larger or higher-hazard workplaces, such as construction, manufacturing and some healthcare environments

Initial Qualification is 3 days – re-qualification every 3 years is 2 days

The content of this course provides basic life saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following:

  • Basic Life Support: CPR for adults, drowning scenarios, and safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Assessment & Priorities: Incident assessment, primary and secondary surveys, and infection prevention.
  • Major Injuries: Fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and head or spinal injuries.
  • Wounds & Bleeding: Severe external bleeding control, embedded objects, and shock management.
  • Medical Emergencies: Anaphylaxis, heart attacks, stroke, asthma, diabetes, seizures, and poisoning.
  • Environmental & Physical Hazards: Burns, scalds, electric shocks, and extreme temperatures

This course is highly practical and includes hand-on AED training with a training defib

The FAW course is ideal for:

  • nominated first aiders in larger& higher risk working environments

No prior experience is necessary

9am-5pm with approximately 45 mins for lunch each day

Minimum Duration: 3 day

There is no minimum age for this course however all students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult

This course operates with a maximum of 12 students per instructor
