Whether you are taking your first steps into the world of motor cruising, have already gained some experience or are working your way to the pinnacle of the RYA Training Scheme – the Yachtmaster Exams we have a wide range of Motor Cruising Courses to suit all abilities.

For beginners we offer the Start Motor Cruising and Helmsman Course designed to help build confidence and make you a useful member of the crew. For those with some motor cruising experience at a more intermediate level we offer the Day Skipper course looking to develop your skippering and navigation skills.

If you have significant sailing experience then you are aiming for the Coastal Skipper course and then onward to the Yachtmaster Coastal / Offshore Certificate of Competence Exam Preparation and Exams.

All motor cruising courses are run on board our Motor Cruiser Celtic North a Sealine F42/5. Courses can also be run on board your own vessel.

This is an entry level course and can be run in conjunction with higher level courses for mixed ability groups.

This course is ideal for introducing friends or family members to crewing a motor boat, and for giving them an understanding of how they can assist the helm. No prior experience is required.

A two-day course covering basic boat handling, engine checks and safety. No prior experience is required.

This course perfectly suits those keen to try out Motor Cruising and get a feel for handling such a craft

A 4 day course for aspiring skippers with some cruising experience and basic navigation and sailing skills

This course gives you the chance to take charge on short passages under instruction. You will concentrate on pilotage boat handling seamanship and navigation

A 5 day course for those with considerable knowledge of cruising and navigation wanting to undertake coastal passages by day and night.

Each delegate will skipper more challenging passages under the guidance of the instructor.

The top level commercial and leisure qualification for boaters seeking to operate motor vessels with up to 12 passengers.
