🎉 Celebrating 20 Years of Adventure, Skill & Seamanship
2006 – 2026
20 years ago, we set out with a simple goal: to share our love of the sea.
Today, we’re proud to have trained thousands, built an incredible community, and created lifelong memories on the water.
Here’s to another fabulous 20 years afloat!
Join us as we celebrate 20 incredible years of training, adventure, and community.
From our first course to today, it’s been an amazing journey—and we couldn’t have done it without you.
From our very first student to thousands trained across the UK and beyond… what a journey it’s been.
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the adventure 🚤
Our History
2021 – today
In 2021 we made the big move 530 miles north to Inverness and downsized our fleet to RIB Endeavour, and Motor Vessel Celtic North. Initially based out of the marina building before splitting our operations between the Inverness Harbour Office and the training room at Caley Cruisers and finally having our own Portakabin with a fantastic view over the boats at Inverness Marina.
In 2024 we added Sailing Vessel Northern Star to our fleet and expanded our operations to deliver RYA Sail Cruising courses alongside Discover Sailing experiences – appointing Mandie Cran as our Chief Instructor Sail
And although we are a long way from the West Country the fantastic Andy Stone, from Stone Maritime Services has been our amazing Chief Engineer – always on hand to offer engineering support and advice as well as making the long journey up to Inverness to conduct routine maintenance and upgrades!
A BIG THANK YOU TO:
- All the instructors that worked with us in the glorious Scottish highlands
- Mandie, Ali, Andy Mac, Ryan, Mike and Pete.
- Our engineering support from Caley Marina, Gael Force Marine and Stone Maritime Services
We have conducted training and exams all over the Highlands and Islands for both leisure and commercial customers. From Rhu and Port Edgar down in the central belt back up north to Inverness, Cromarty Firth & Moray Firth and out west to Staffin, Isle of Skye and Kinlochleven.
Our customers have come from all over Scotland from Aberdeen and Dundee over on the East to Sullum Voe way up in Shetland to the North to the Outer Hebrides in the West. But our 2 farthest travelled custiomer have been from Vancouver, Canada and Paihia, New Zealand!
2006 – 2021
From 2006 to 2021 we operated across the South West of England, based at Portishead Marina, delivering high quality power, motor and shore based training to leisure and commercial customers.
Operating in the Bristol Channel we operated a fleet of 3 Solent RIBS and our Motor Vessel Celtic North. We delivered RYA Powerboat, Shore based and Motor Cruising courses along with MCA STCW Basic Training Modules.
A BIG THANK YOU TO:
- All the instructors that worked with us in the South West:
- Geoff, Dan, Chris, Nathan, Sharon, Jay, Mitch, Jenny, Beth and Steve.
- Our engineering support from Advance Marine and Stone Maritime Services
- The lovely Boatfolk staff at Portishead Marina and Penarth Marina.
Here we trained our youngest ever student – Logan Fox – who completed a Junior Crew session with us at just 8 years and 10 days old! And had one of our most travelled students all the way from South Georgia!
