RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship
An ideal introduction to boating and navigation, the RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship Course is designed for anyone interested in sailing, motor boating, sea angling, diving or spending time on the water.
This classroom or online theory course provides essential knowledge for staying safe afloat, covering navigation, seamanship, safety and passage planning. It’s suitable for beginners, inexperienced skippers and crew, or anyone looking to refresh their knowledge.

Ideal preparation for practical courses such as:
No prior experience is necessary
Course run over a total of 2 days or is run entirely online
There is no minimum age for this course however all students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult
This course operates with a maximum of 10 students per instructor

- RYA Training Charts 3 & 4
You will require access to a Portland Plotter and Divider set for the duration of your course.
We strongly recommend that you purchase your own navigation equipment – you have the option in the ticket settings when booking to purchase a plotter and divider set with your course. This will be available for you on Day 1 of your course.
We may be able to loan a plotter and divider set for our classroom based courses subject to availability please let us know if you wish to borrow a set for your course.
