VHF-SRC Radio Course Information and Pre-Course Learning

Welcome, this page gives you all the detail that you need for your upcoming VHF-SRC Radio course and exam. Please read through the information below which details the pre-course learning requirement and how to apply for your SRC Exam. It is essential that these are completed before attending your face to face VHF-SRC Radio course. Section 1: Course and Exam Information
COurse Structure

The course / exam consists of:
- 3 hours of pre-course learning,
- 7 hours contact time in the classroom.
- Written / practical exam
The exam is conducted immediately after the course by an independent examiner and consists of a short written paper followed by a practical examination. Exams are usually conducted between 1645 and 1845hrs on the day of the course.
Applying for your exam
You MUST register with the RYA for your exam
application form using this link: https://www.rya.org.uk/training/theory/src-exams
For most leisure candidates you will be funding the exam yourself you will need to make your online payment (currently £70 – Jan 2023).
For commercial candidates if your employer is paying for your exam or you have agreed with us that we are paying your exam fee as part of your invoice please follow the same link and select payment by cheque/training centre.
Once you have registered please download and print your
application form in landscape on A4 and bring it with you on the day along with a passport photograph.
Course hanbook

Your course handbook will be sent to you prior to the course – this will usually arrive approximately 7-10 days prior to the course date.
On booking you will have selected either a printed version or electronic version of the course handbook. Printed books will be dispatched by Royal Mail (or hand delivered for those local to Inverness centre), e-book vouchers will be emailed to you.
